So if I sign a petition; how is my information delivered?

SendMyVote allows verified petition sponsors to export the names, postcode and dates of all signatures into a PDF file, in a format similiar to that of old fashioned (offline) petitions. SendMyVote hashes (hides) some of the data (eg. the last two characters of your postcode/zip) to ensure your privacy, and stop unscrupulous people using these exports as a freebie marketing list. If the Petition Manager wants to contact the signatories, then he can only do so through our site; and that's FREE by the way! But importantly; SendMyVote is an email opt-in site. You ONLY receive emails from our website if you have requested to receive them. Back to the original question: The Petition Manager has the option to either email the PDF to the receipent, or to print and hand it in personally.


How are petition signatures validated

Firstly: every signature requires the user to enter a 'captcha' user verification; a simple graphic displaying 6 letters that the user then needs to enter. This simple measure reduces (usually eliminates) the chance of a computer program creating fake signatures. Secondly we compare the email address, postcode, and IP address against all other signatures to guarantee uniqueness. If you would like to know more, please contact us.
