My name is James Deeney. I am a non resident single parent. My baby Daniel James Deeney is 9 months old and I am only allowed by Daniels mum to see my son through contact centres 2 hours a week. Apparently this is acceptable by social services and the courts and the legal system all because I am the dad. On the one hand I have equal parental responsibility as I am on the birth certificate, yet on the other, fathers get no say at all when it actually comes down to who side the law and social services are on. Its very clear that fathers are treated so unfairly. It is outrageous in this day and age in this country that the system is not equal. As it is meant to be the child that is the important factor here. Yet no one seems to care about that in the eyes of the law. A child needs their father just as much as their mother. On the news this week 90% of single parents are mothers. Why is that. Is it because maybe the law automatically sides with the mother. I don\'t think its a coincidence. There are plenty of fathers just like me fighting for actual justice for our kids and want to be there to see our little ones growing up. Our voice is not being heard though in the court room, in parliament or anywhere but with signing this petition, you will be helping safeguard the future of children and start to bring justice to this one sided system. Children need fathers. It is a fact, and I for one have and will fight every single day for my child. Unless things change, it is our children who suffer. We are supposed to be a caring nation and we dare highlight problems in other countries, yet fail to acknowledge yet alone fix the problems in this country. Please sign my petition, more important than signing it for me, is you\'re be signing it for my son Daniel James Deeney and all the other children out there. I am a very good dad and only want to be allowed to see him growing up and be there for him, just like million of other parents. I will be sending this petition to the prime minister and the secretary of state for children and families among others. Thank you, James and Daniel
