Worried about providing us with information on line? Let us put your mind at rest...
In summary
1.) SendMyVote.Com is an email Opt-In site. You only receive emails if you choose to.
2.) We respect your privacy. With the exception of the final petition PDF, we never release your personal information to 3rd parties. We mask elements of the final petition to prevent that data being used.
3.) We use cookies, but you can disable them in your browser. We also use 3rd party analytics tools to track how our site is used.
4.) SendMyVote.com contains a number of links to external sites. We have no control and take no responsibility for information you share with these sites.
1. General:
Here at SendMyVote, we are committed to protecting your privacy on line. We will not share your personal information for marketing or any other purposes without your consent unless where required by law. We will always respect your privacy and any personal communication between you and ourselves. We will always comply with any data protection legislation currently in force.
We collect general statistical information about visitors to our website for general reporting and to improve future content. By using our website, you consent to the collection and use of this information by SendMyVote.com. If we change our privacy policy we will inform you by posting these changes on this page.
2. What we collect and why:
We ask for information about you in 4 areas of our website.
a.) When registering as a new user
We will ask you for your name, preferred login ID and contact details such as phone and e-mail address. A lot of this information is optional. We use this information to pre-populate future petition signatures, and to contact you if we need more information. This information will not be given to any third party, except to the extent and for the purpose we may be required to do so by any law.
b.) When signing/voting for a petition
We need your full name and postcode as an indication of your unique identity and intention to sign the petition. We may also record your IP address. This information is held by SendMyVote.com and used in the following way:
1.) Our petition system searches all petition signatories to ensure that each signature/vote is unique.
2.) Your name, and the first 4 letters of the postcode will be made available to the petition sponsor, when they close the petition and wish to submit it (in printed or electronic form) to the petition receipent
3.) SendMyVote.com may also use this information in understanding the demographics of our voters, ie. where voters are based, and which regions are most 'active' in petitions. The demographic information based on the postcodes may be released to the petition sponsor, or 3rd parties, but will never be released alongside your name and postal details.
c.) When signing up for e-mail updates
SendMyVote.Com operates an Opt-in email policy. You will only receive emails if you requested updates via the petition pages. This information will not be given to any third party. This website will enable the petition manager owning the petition to send out newsletter emails to you, but it will be done via a mechanism that prevents them being able to see your email addresses. With Sendmyvote.com YOU are always in control of your personal information, if at any time you wish us to stop contacting you then simply email us at opt_out@sendmyvote.com with the subject header 'STOP'.
3. Third Parties
We may occasionally use third party companies to manage collation, processing and/or storage of personal data on our behalf. These companies are carefully selected and screened to ensure maximum protection of your security and privacy and are permitted to use the data only in accordance with our instructions and our privacy policy detailed here.
